Musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs) remain the leading cause of workplace injuries in Nova Scotia’s Health and Community Services sector – particularly sprains and strains that result from everyday tasks not involving resident or client handling. LAMS empowers participants with a structured, practical approach to injury prevention, providing the knowledge and confidence to make their workplaces safer – one move at a time.
Program Overview
Learning Objectives
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the leading causes and risk factors associated with non-resident/client musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace. They will explore and apply a practical 6-step prevention process to real-world scenarios, while building awareness of common ergonomic hazards. They will learn how to conduct effective risk assessments, prioritize preventative actions, and implement and evaluate appropriate control measures. The course also emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of safety and shared responsibility within teams, equipping participants to lead and support meaningful prevention efforts across their organizations.
